Michael Leavey is a member of Dorough & Dorough, LLC and has been with the firm since 2003.  Michael practices in the area of commercial real estate, focusing on condominium law, residential and mixed-use real estate development, and community associations law.  In his practice, Michael represents national, regional and local developers and builders on a wide range of issues, including acquisition, disposition and development of real property in transactions related to condominium, residential, commercial, townhome, mixed-use and master planned communities.  Michael also represents community associations on various matters regarding governance and operation, including preparation, review and revision of community association governing documentation.

Michael grew up in Atlanta and is a long-time resident of Decatur.  

Industry Experience

  • Representing builders and developers in closing real estate transactions related to residential, commercial and mixed use projects;
  • Drafting and negotiating governing documents for master condominium projects; 
  • Drafting and negotiating restrictive covenants and condominium documents residential, commercial and mixed-use development projects;
  • Drafting and negotiating purchase and sale agreements, lot takedown contracts and development agreements;
  • Drafting and negotiating loan and land closing documents; 
  • Drafting and negotiating easement, maintenance and cost-sharing agreements; and
  • Assisting mandatory membership community associations with amendments to and interpretations of community governing documents.
